Help Anwar’s Daughter Have a Chance at Life
United Kingdom
URGENT – DISPLACED FAMILY IN GAZA FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE NEEDED FOR EVACUATION FROM GAZA I am Anwar, a 20-year-old from Gaza, which has been under siege for 17 years and subjected to seven wars that have consumed our flesh and blood. I am the mother of a baby girl, Dalia, who was born during the war. We have been displaced and are living in a tent while bombs continue to fall.
I was living in peace and stability. I had been married a year before the war started. I used to begin my day by preparing breakfast for my husband before going to work. I was a high school student (Tawjihi) and nine months pregnant with my first baby, awaiting my due date. In the end, I had to give birth to my baby during the war.
There are brutal attacks on Gaza every day. Nowhere is safe, and I fear my daughter may never be able to live a normal life. My husband and I have no way to earn money right now, and we are relying on your support. Every dollar counts. Your donation allows us to buy necessities for our daughter, such as formula, diapers, meat, and vegetables, which have skyrocketed due to the shortage of food. The longer this continues, the greater the threat of malnutrition and developmental delays, which could become a lifelong reality for our daughter.
In addition to the duration of my stay in Egypt, I need about $20,000 for expenses such as renting shelter, food, water, and clothing. Any donation, even a small one, will make a difference and play an important role in saving my family. I will be forever grateful to you. 1. Personal Expenses: As we are currently unemployed due to the war, we are struggling to meet our daily expenses. 2. Clothing and Bedding:Having left everything behind during our forced displacement, we urgently need funds to purchase clothing and bedding. 3. Transit Costs: We require financial support for transportation from Gaza to the Rafah crossing. 4. Short-Term Accommodation: Renting an apartment in Egypt for a short period is crucial for us to plan our next steps. 5. Travel Tickets and Accommodation Costs: Funds are needed for travel tickets and other accommodation expenses as we seek a safer and more stable environment. 6. Starting Over: We need additional support for basic expenses to help us restart our lives.
[Organiser’s note: This fundraiser is organised by Sunbul, a volunteer based in the UK, on Anwar’s behalf due to Chuffed’s fundraising limitations. $20,000 USD is equal to just under £16,000 GBP. All donations will be transferred to Anwar’s family. The fundraiser has been verified by Gaza Vetters. You can find Anwar’s family on the list #293 here.]
Every 21st of March across the Arab world, families celebrate Mother’s Day, and Gaza is no different.
Anwar, too, should be feeling celebrated today – this is only her second ever Mother’s Day as a mother herself. But she has never been able to experience the joy of being a first time mother outside of the hunger and terror of genocide. She has always had to fight for basic survival for herself and her toddler daughter Dalia.
Now with the return to active genocide and the uncertainty, danger and aid blockade imposed by Israel, basic survival is more important to Anwar and her family than ever. Can you help?
[The image is a photo Anwar took of Dalia around this time last year!]
Anwar, her husband Ahmed and their little girl Dalia have been living in Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, which today received a warning from the IDF: move or die.
And so they’re moving. It’s going to be just as dangerous, unhealthy and expensive as ever – except now it’ll also be somewhere completely unfamiliar, where they’ll have to start again.
With your help, we’ve managed to pay the evacuation fee to make sure Anwar and her family can live another day. But the weather is getting colder, prices are getting higher, resources are getting scarcer, and even if a ceasefire agreement is reached there will be no end in sight for this humanitarian crisis.
Can you help this family survive?
